The next three months are party food heaven, don’t you think? There are holiday gatheringsgalore, and then we start getting ready for Super Bowl parties. I may not be a sports fan, but I’m definitely a fan of the food that goes with watching football :)

No matter what the occasion, these Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms will be a perfect fit. You only need a handful of ingredients to make them, and they taste incredibly good! You’ll pretty much be the most popular person e-v-e-r when you serve these to your friends and family.

These easy stuffed mushrooms start with Chicken of the Sea minced clams and lump crab meat. I always have my pantry stocked with all sorts of Chicken of the Sea seafood because their products are so great for all kinds of recipes! You might have crab and clam meat in your kitchen already, but if not, they should be easy to find near the canned tuna at your grocery store.

The rest of the ingredients are kitchen staples too like cream cheese, onion and garlic powder, and parmesan cheese. Of course you’ll also need some mushrooms! I used baby bella mushrooms this time, but white button mushrooms work great too.

Whatever variety of mushrooms you choose, I would recommend using small ones. These seafood stuffed mushrooms are best when you can pop them in your mouth like bite-sized treats. You can alsotake it easy on the filling unlike the example I set in the video below. I got a bit carried away with mounding too much in each mushroom, but it doesn’t need to be overflowing!

Why I love this stuffed mushroom recipe

  • Uses inexpensive canned ingredients
  • Requires no cutting or chopping. It is so easy, you just need to mix everything in a bowl.
  • Very quick to prepare. They can be oven ready in about 5 minutes
  • Everyone is always impressed with these seafood stuffed mushrooms and think I bought them.

Recipe Tips, Tricks, and Modifications

When making stuffed mushrooms there are a couple things I always keep in mind. And this applies to this recipe and any other stuffed mushroom recipe.

  • Make sure all the ingredients in the stuffing are cut to be about the same size. It is much easier to eat and the flavors are more uniform if everything is cut the same size and is cut fairly small. This recipe is super easy and does not require chopping but if you cannot find minced clams you will want to chop the canned clams.
  • Broil for 1-2 minutes once they are done cooking. I love to give my stuffed mushrooms a minute or two under the broiler to nicely brown the top of them. I like the extra flavor and appearance.

Here are some fun little modifications you can make to tweak this great recipe.

  • Substitute the onion and garlic powder and dried parsley with one teaspoon of cajun seasoning or Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Seafood Magic seasoning. For some extra kick add 1 teaspoon of hot sauce, such as Tabasco, Crystals or Texas Pete.
  • Sprinkle some breadcrumbs (or crushed Ritz crackers) on the top of each mushroom before baking. These mushrooms are gluten free so just keep that in mind if you decide to add breadcrumbs.
  • Give the stuffed mushrooms a light squeeze of fresh lemon after cooking. This is particularly nice on these seafood stuffed mushrooms but it adds a nice bright flavor to any stuffed mushroom and helps cut the richness. After all most stuffed mushrooms have a fair amount of cheese and or mayonnaise.
  • Substitute the canned minced clams with canned tiny shrimp. I recommend giving the shrimp a rough chop before adding to the filling mix.
  • For a little texture or crunch add a one stalk of minced celery to the mix.

I have spent more time than I care to admit trying to find a stuffed mushroom recipe similar to the one I made many times a few years ago. I can’t find that darned recipe; your recipe is pretty close. Therefore, I would appreciate knowing if I may substitute Durkee’s Dried Onions (an important component in my lost recipe) in place of the parsley OR simply add the Durkee Onions?

Please reply and thank you.
